Los Angeles Philharmonic Performs Beethoven and Mussorgsky
Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA)

Guest conductor Stéphane Denève leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic through a trio of exciting and well-known pieces at the Hollywood Bowl. The outdoor concert opens with Beethoven’s ultimate piano concerto, the regal and uplifting Fifth, featuring Canadian piano virtuoso Marc-André Hamelin. Widely considered among the composer’s crowning achievements, the Emperor is a thrilling, dynamic work dedicated to Beethoven’s close friend and pupil Archduke Rudolf of Austria. Mussorgsky’s powerful Night on Bald Mountain and vivid Pictures at an Exhibition close out the concert under the stars.
