Cindy Shapiro’s modern retelling of the ancient Greek myth about the original princess is a stylistic musical hybrid of post-modernism and rock. This theatrical fever-dream imagines the human princess Psyche and the god Eros falling wildly in love — but Eros’ mother, Aphrodite, has other plans. Psyche finds herself thrust into a netherworld where she faces challenge after daunting challenge in the name of true love. Can she survive? Will she go the distance to overcome the wrath of Aphrodite to take her place in the universe as a true hero who will change the world and the very nature of love forever?
