Puccini’s powerful opera is the passionate tale of celebrated diva Floria Tosca. When her lover becomes embroiled in political troubles and is pursued by the police chief, Tosca prepares to do whatever it takes to save her beloved. This tragic romance ranks among the most popular operas ever and includes one of the most beautiful arias in the operatic repertoire, “E lucevan le stelle,” sung by Tosca’s doomed lover as he awaits execution. For this performance the Pacific Opera Project will move the entire show to three different venues throughout St. James Church, with each representing a different location within the opera. This “moving production” is sure to be something no one, even regular opera-goers, has ever seen before.
