Join DISPATCH curator Thierry Gervais in conversation with award-winning documentary photographer Louie Palu. Palu’s work appears in DISPATCH, and has been featured in the BBC, The New York Times, TIME, Newsweek, The Atlantic, The Globe and Mail, The Economist, and Wall Street Journal, to name a few. He is currently at work editing a book and a feature documentary film from his multi-year study of the war in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

DISPATCH: War Photographs in Print, 1854 2008 examines the production of war photographs, the role of photojournalists and their collaboration with picture editors in the press. The exhibition reveals that taking a shot is only one step in the process of illustrating a war and views these photographs not as windows open to the world, but as representations that are the product of changing editorial figures, aesthetic priorities and historical contexts.

The event is free and open to the public. Please arrive early to ensure seating. Please contact us if we can make any accommodations to ensure your inclusion in this event.
