The special theme of this concert will be a memorial marking the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I. There will be a performance of two significant Canadian works: Ernst MacMillan’s String Quartet from 1917, and a brand new WWI-themed string quartet based on the Battle of Vimy Ridge by Mark Richards, a Toronto composer now located in Lethbridge, Alberta. We will also be featuring Debussy’s Cello Sonata from 1915 and Elgar’s Piano Quintet from 1918.
