Roarshaq is a collective of four young Toronto musicians/composers dedicated to creating new and original works in jazz and improvised music. As the name suggests the group aims to be a musical inkblot, creating patterns, images and textures which the listener is free to interpret and experience in their own way, projecting their own state of mind through the music.
For several years these four musicians, have been collaborating together to make music they love. After being selected to attend a short-term winter residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in March 2013 and recording and releasing their demo EP later that fall the group has completed their first full length album. Featuring 8 new original compositions, INSERT ALBUM TITLE, is the culminating result of their Banff residency, two tours, and a 21-day intensive rehearsal period funded by the Toronto Arts Council Projects Grant.
