Elephant Space Theatre (Hollywood, CA)
Pancho Villa, the hero of the Mexican Revolution, rides again — but this time the battlefield is his own bedroom. That’s the premise of playwright Jeffrey Atik’s satirical Telenovela Wives of Pancho Villa, which was a “Pick of the Fringe” production at the 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival. You’ll get a ribald behind-the-scenes look at the revolutionary’s many wives, get an earful of their feuding and follow along with their scheming. It all plays out in the distinctive style of Mexican soap operas (though it’s performed entirely in English). Telenovela reopens as part of the Theatre Asylum’s “Holiday Package Festival.”
