Italy’s A Golden Boy & Beautiful Things: Director in Person

In this double feature from American Cinematheque’s annual Cinema Italian Style series, director Agostino Ferrente introduces and participates in a Q&A after the L.A. premiere of his award-winning 2013 documentary Beautiful Things. That’s followed by a screening of the 2014 drama A Golden Boy, featuring Sharon Stone, also making its L.A. debut. Beautiful Things takes a look at the lives of four young, hopeful citizens of Naples in 1999, and then checks back in on them in 2013. Riccardo Scamarcio stars in Pupi Avati’s A Golden Boy, which finds a writer delving into the life of his late father, a B-movie screenwriter. Both films are in Italian with English subtitles.
