The Nile Project

The world will feel just a little bit smaller — and more alive — as top musicians and singers from Ethiopia, Egypt and Uganda join forces for this inspired and musically diverse concert at Carpenter Performing Arts Center. Experience a landmark collaboration among musicians from nations that share one geographic feature in common — the Nile River — uniting in a transformational performance full of pulsing polyrhythms and soaring pentatonic melodies. The Nile Project features an orchestra comprised of Ugandan adungu, Ethiopian masenko and saxophone, and Egyptian ney, oud, violin, simsimiya and tanbura, along with a powerful pan-Nile percussion section and no fewer than six vocalists singing in 11 different languages.
