One of the most dynamic and celebrated vocalists in contemporary jazz pays tribute to the legendary Judy Garland when Jane Monheit sings the ballads Judy made immortal at Valley Performing Arts Center. Monheit’s debut album, Never Never Land (2000), made her a familiar name in jazz circles and kept her on the Billboard Jazz chart for more than a year, during which time she was also voted Best Debut Recording Artist by the Jazz Journalists Association. Now, with her 11th CD (The Heart of the Matter) recently released, this Grammy-nominated singer arrives to celebrate an American icon, closing with an unforgettable rendition of Garland’s trademark tune, “Over The Rainbow/Hello Bluebird.”
