Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn: Banjo Innovators
The Regent Theater (Los Angeles, CA)

Widely regarded as the biggest banjo innovator since Earl Scruggs, Béla Fleck has for decades been redefining the possibilities of the instrument, exploring everything from bluegrass to jazz to classical music. In recent years, Fleck has teamed up with his wife, clawhammer player Abigail Washburn, to form The Sparrow Quartet, which combines Washburn’s love of Chinese culture with old-time music for a completely unique sound. In this intimate duet show, Fleck’s virtuosic musicianship compliments Washburn’s beguiling compositions and voice for a sound that is steeped in tradition while breaking new ground.
