Upon the Fragile Shore
a play-conversation by Caridad Svich
2012 OBIE for Life Achievement
2014. A chorus of storytellers. Four actors. Fourteen characters.
Three mythical beings. Eight cities.
Five global regions. Standing upon one fragile shore.
Vulnerably standing in it, with you.
Telling you their stories. Stories that hold us up.
Stories that express immense beauty, vulnerability and compassion
in face of tragedy.
Stories that ask crucial questions.
To themselves; to ourselves:
In what ways are the losses derived from human rights abuse, environmental destruction and acts of terrorism interconnected?
How can we learn from each other to cope with loss?
To what extent are we responsible for anothers suffering?
Wherein lies the hope?
Directed by Carla Melo and performed by Lilia Leon, Naomi Abiola, Jonah Hundert and Carla
