Fugue at Atwater Village Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)

Genius, Jealousy & Music in Powerful Drama: Fugue

Atwater Village Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)

"Fugue"

Interlacing three stories of ill-fated romance, Fugue tells a passionate tale of intrigue, jealousy and music. As composers Arnold Schoenberg, Piotr Tchaikovsky and Carlo Gesualdo try to balance their musical creativity with their need for love, this Echo Theater Company production from playwright Tommy Smith and director Chris Fields travels between three simultaneous times and places on the stage of the Atwater Village Theatre. Set in 20th-century Austria, 18th-century Russia and 17th-century Italy, Fugue is a polyphonic theatrical experience revealing three composers’ breathtaking craft, as well as the demons that drive their genius.
