The Batcave North originally birthed by, myself, DJ Ivan Palmer in 1984, became a big success for four years before the term Goth was born in TO.
When the Batcave was born in the U.K. following the Punk movement, I found myself captivated by it, and I’m proud to be recognized as one of those who helped bring the Goth movement forward in Toronto.
In the early 90’s, I fell prey to two thefts and lost all my vinyl music collection, was force to retire from the scene and found some DJ gigs through agencies that, at that time, provided all the music. I kept on working with different genre of music, which was not, necessarily, the kind of music I related to, but it helped me grow my DJ skills and repertoire.
In 2009 Club Neutral owner Oz and DJ Osaze agreed to let me organize a one time Batcave North Revisited party at Neutral on a Friday night along side Osaze. This created a great response, and by the end of 2012 Oz asked me to organize a Batcave North event in the New Side Room. The night was such a success that Oz offered me the Main Room four Saturdays for the year 2012. The Batcave North became increasingly successful!
In January 2013, Club Neutral closed its doors and the Batcave North team joined forces with the DirtyCupcake team and moved to the first Saturday of each months at Nocturne on Queen St. It was a great year until the last few months.
Currently, I’ve listened and read all the comments that where posted on the Toronto Goth FB Group page and came to the conclusion that it would be best to organize only two Batcave North parties in 2015.
I would like all the Batcave North supporters to know the two Batcave North Parties in 2015 are taking place at Nocturne. The first one will be on February 7th 2015, and the second one will be on May 23rd, the last bite with a very special guest star DJ…the details will be revealed on the February 7th Batcave North party.
I would like all my Gothlings friends to know I am very grateful for your support throughout the years and I hope to see you all on the dance floor, both on February 7th and May 23rd.
