In honour of Shabbat Shira (the Sabbath of song), local musicians, prayer leaders and community members will gather at the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre for a conference exploring the meaning of music and prayer. Tehilah: The Music of Prayer, hosted by vocalist and Cantorial Soloist Aviva Chernick, will feature creative workshops, song circles, intimate discussions and interactive learning panels surrounding topics such as language and meaning in prayer, sacred chanting, innovation in Jewish prayer and Sephardic tones and rhythms.
The event is hosted by lead Jaffa Road singer Aviva Chernick and participants include Canadian actor Alon Nashman, Moroccan musician and cantor Aaron Bensoussan, composer and rabbi Miriam Margles, accredited music therapist Aaron Lightstone and many more.
