If wearables are going to succeed they need to be worn and in order for people to wear them they need to look a lot more fashionable. Fashion and design is a huge talking point around wearable technology right now especially when it comes to the female demographic. Many critics have recently suggested that wearable companies are either making devices void of style or are using overly girly and almost insulting designs. This month, we have put together a panel of experts specializing in Digital Culture, Fashion and Wearable Tech to discuss developing and designing Wearables for Women.
Prior to the panel, we will feature smart jewellery company Ear-O-Smart, the world’s first smart earring which can monitor your heart rate, calories, and activity level. Ear-O-Smart President, Ravinder Saini will take to the stage to present the device and take questions from the audience.
In the demo area we have smart jewellery from Mellamor and an Exoglove from BreqLabs an assistive technology and gaming wearable and Sensebridge makers of a haptic compass called North Paw and a heart beat pendant called Heart Spark. We will also be giving away ONE “Up and Running Kit” courtesy of OMsignal which is everything you will need to get started with your very first smart wear! To win you’ll need to be at the event and Tweet!
**IMPORTANT: The bar (beer & wine) and pizza will be open from 8-10PM during the networking portion of the event only***
