Steve Cadwell mixes material from his own life with song, dance, costumes and poetry to create a one-man show he calls Wild and Precious, or “The Singing Gay Psychotherapist Tells All.” Cadwell, a Boston mental-health professional, relates his personal story as it parallels the last 50 years of the gay liberation movement, from the shame related to hidden homosexuality to coming way out of the closet. Staged at Santa Monica’s Highways Performance Space, the show also touches upon Stonewall, gay pride, the tragedy of AIDS, the freedom-to-marry fight and more.
