Our featured artist is Matti Palonen. Matti is a musician and luthier living in Toronto. He plays several instruments, including the tradition Finnish Kantele. He has performed at festivals and venues across Ontario, from Harbourfront Centre in Toronto to Finlandia Hall in Thunder Bay. His songwriting is inspired by traditional folkdance music and the Kalevala tradition in which oral history is passed down as poetry accompanied by the kantele.
