DanceWorks, Toronto’s longest running contemporary dance series, proudly presents two world premieres: Marie France Forcier’s Scars are All the Rage and Tracey Norman’s what goes between. This exciting double bill exploring the impact of loss and transformation runs March 12-14 at 8pm at Harbourfront Centre Theatre. For tickets, call the Harbourfront Centre Box Office at 416-973-4000 or visit www.danceworks.ca

Scars are All the Rage explores the somatic repercussions of abuse-related trauma through circus animal-like imagery. Highly suggestive, the work highlights the rise of trauma culture and our growing desensitization to sexual voyeurism for its entertainment value. The basis for what goes between is the energy that exists between people and its impact on relationships, loss, attraction and decision. The phenomenon of one person’s thoughts or emotions affecting another’s mood, otherwise known as emotional contagion or synchrony, is explored physically.
