New One-Act Explores Football’s Concussion Controversy

This world-premiere play Clutch aims for the uprights with a mix of drama and dark comedy as it takes on the hot-button issue of brain injuries suffered as a result of playing pro football. The funeral of a former NFL wide receiver draws a crowd of characters affected by his death, including his estranged family, a neuroscientist eager to study the deceased man’s brain and the player who doled out the hard hits on the field. The SkyPilot Theatre Company stages this show at the Sportsmen’s Lodge Oak Room in Studio City.
