Westminster Community Theatre (Westminster, CA)
When Tony-nominated playwright Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo) was looking for the setting of his next comedy, he had an epiphany while playing golf. Everything about the game seemed perfect for roasting: the silly outfits, the stuffy country club rules, and the temper tantrums that erupt when a tiny ball doesn’t roll into a tiny hole. Ludwig’s new play The Fox on the Fairway captures all the absurdities of golf and those who play it. When the heads of two competing country clubs engage in a wager, hijinks are quickly “teed off.” A tribute to the English farces of the ’30s and ’40s, The Fox on the Fairway moves with the speed of a Marx Brothers’ classic, complete with rapid-fire dialogue, mistaken identities, slamming doors and over-the-top shenanigans. Don’t miss this fun farce in its run at Westminster Community Theatre.
