Tang Shenghan may be a scholar, but he’s started seeing himself more as just a lonely cook with no luck in love. Working in the kitchen of Scholars Cafe in Chinatown circa the ’90s, Shenghan has suffered a disfiguring incident that’s officially dashed his dreams of ever finding “the right one.” But now, with the help of the cafe’s owner, his search for the perfect mate has resumed — and he’s using the motley crew of customers that visit the restaurant as a pool of prospects.
