Steve Earle: Grammy-Winning “Outlaw” Country Star
The Canyon (Agoura Hills, CA)

Unlike most of those Nashville pretty boys, Steve Earle lived the lyrics of his music: addiction, affliction, prison, and (count ’em) seven marriages. That authenticity has soaked deep into his bare-bones, rockabilly style known as “outlaw country.” And while this artistic outsider has never enjoyed enormous mainstream success, he has attracted a dedicated cult following over the years — and three Grammy Awards — for music that is more alive and socially pointed than anything on the radio. And his legend has only grown larger after T-Bone Burnett produced his acclaimed 2011 album “I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive.” He also appeared on the HBO series Treme, about post-Katrina New Orleans, playing the musician Harley. Now he appears with his celebrated live band The Dukes for a hard-driving, deeply felt performance at The Canyon.
