Theatre Asylum Lab (Hollywood, CA)

"Sunshine"

A small-time porno queen grinds her life away protected (and trapped) in a Plexiglass booth when someone breaks through to touch her heart in William Mastrosimone’s affecting Sunshine. Though stripper Sunshine is the star of seedy “Club Paradise,” her situation is far from heavenly. Her husband abuses her and her “fans” are creeps. But when she unexpectedly encounters a disillusioned paramedic named Nelson, a fragile — but real — opportunity for love and acceptance opens up. Corryn Cummins directs this gritty, character-driven drama at the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
