Multiple Grammy and Tony-winning jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater (The Wiz) joins Rachel Worby and the MUSE/IQUE orchestra for the second concert in their Summer of Sound series saluting Leonard Bernstein. Jazz/Genesis focuses on the composer’s forward-thinking fusion of jazz and classical, as Bridgewater takes on songs like “Big Stuff,” as well as tunes by Sondheim and Gershwin. Along with tracing the genre’s roots from Stravinsky to spirituals, the orchestra is also set to swing with On the Waterfront, the only original film score Bernstein ever wrote, with an assist from dancer-choreographer Kitty McNamee and EDM pioneer EZ Mike. Caltech’s Beckman Mall Lawn provides the perfect spot for picnicking and appreciating the genius of this truly great American talent.
