"The Ben Hecht Show"

Prolific writer and outspoken civil rights promoter Ben Hecht was extremely successful in show business, penning the Broadway hit The Front Page as well as the comedy Nothing Sacred and the sweeping film adaptation to Gone With the Wind. As an assimilated American Jew, he never felt a strong daily connection to his culture until he became aware of the Nazi holocaust. Set in 1943, James Sherman portrays Hecht as he comes to grip with the realities of anti-Semitism and starts to take action to both help the Jewish cause and connect with his past. Entertaining, stimulating and topical, The Ben Hecht Show is a one-man play that runs at the Zephyr Theatre in West Hollywood.
