L.A. Cops and Community Activists Come Together at Streets and Beats
Los Angeles Theatre Center (Los Angeles, CA)

The national conversation about the relationship between the police and the communities they serve has grown increasingly louder, and at times, more contentious, in the light of several shocking incidents. Los Angeles has a long history of police issues, with both the Watts and Rodney King riots looming over the city, and in Streets and Beats, the community and cops come together to discuss what can be done to improve the communication and cooperation between them. Hosted by NPR’s Michel Martin, this unique, theatrical event features dynamic voices from different backgrounds in an evening of conversation, storytelling and performance.
