"Outfest 2015: Tig" & After-Party at Opening Night Gala

“Good evening. Hello. I have cancer.” It was with this stunning opener that comedian Tig Notaro began a set of comedy in 2012 that grabbed the attention of not just her comedy peers (including Louis C.K., who declared it one of a “handful of truly great, masterful stand-up sets” he’d ever seen), but the world. Because not only was her half-hour set incredibly funny and honest, but it was delivered just hours after Tig was diagnosed with cancer … preceded by a battle with pneumonia, a heart-rending breakup and the death of her mother. Now, the touching, powerful and ultimately hysterical documentary from directors Kristina Goolsby and Ashley York, which chronicles the inspirational transformation of Tig’s life in the wake of tragedy, screens at the Opening Night Gala of the 2015 Los Angeles Outfest. A sensation at Sundance, where it received an extended standing ovation, Tig features Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis and more, and is a testament to the true power of the human spirit. And when the screening is over, your night is only just beginning, as The Orpheum Theatre will transform into an after-party themed to resemble Havana in the ’40s — complete with on-the-house cocktails, craft beers and wine — until midnight.
