Chinese musical Kunlun Myth combines both ancient and modern concepts while exploring notions of heaven and earth. In this large-scale Chinese-language theatrical performance from the Musical China Theatre Troupe, a legendary love story unfolds. Deng Fei is a college student from Beijing who sets off on a quest to the legendary Kunlun Mountain. There, he comes across Meiduo, the daughter of the Heaven Pillar tribe’s chief, and the two fall in love at first sight. But when Deng Fei accidentally performs a sacrilegious act, ancient Chinese gods step in to intervene. Kunlun Myth made its premier in 2012 as the first Chinese original musical and has since been staged more than a hundred times worldwide. Now, this whimsical production about forgiveness and tolerance comes to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
