Saturday, September 19th, VSVSVS is hosting a party to close Ryan Parks time with us as our second resident of 2015.
Ryan has spent his time at VSVSVS exploring materials and ideas informed by his experience as a son of an immigrant convenience store operator. Items found in a convenience store lottery tickets, softdrinks, cigarettes, magazines, stock boxes are the starting point for the works made during the residency, chosen for formal and personal associations that interweave lowgrade material culture, art conventions, immigrant commerce, and biography.
Ryan Parks practice spans a variety of media and subjects, his projects guided by the material and poetic possibilities suggested by a subjects salient characteristics. His works are at once matter-of-fact and evocative, oscillating between clinical and poetic. His work has been shown in exhibitions and screenings across Canada, the USA, and Europe.

This is also Ryans birthday. Gifts are not necessary, but drinks are encouraged. So on Saturday September 19th come join us at 25 Polson to party while its still hot.
