Laemmle’s NoHo 7 (North Hollywood, CA)
The first film festival in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley, the Valley Film Festival features local films as well as works from national and international independent filmmakers. This year’s opening night features a screening of the musical comedy The Forbidden Zone in color, with a fun, live pre-show with Richard Elfman (this was the first film scored by his brother Danny Elfman). Other nights at Laemmle NoHo 7 include “Girls on Film” and “Made in the (818)” shorts programs, the documentary 7 Days in Syria, Congo Beat the Drum, which follows two musicians from Tel Aviv who travel to Jamaica to record with forgotten reggae artists, the documentary SlingShot about Segway inventor Dean Kamen, and much more.
