Where does the capacity to terrorize come from? I’m not talking about blowing yourself up on a bus. There are terrorists who carry out their campaigns with more guile, finesse even. Like the religious right. Or politicians. Or that cousin whose visits filled you with dread when you were 9. The line between bully and bus bomber may be dubious but we learn at a very young age that terror has power.
