Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian has wowed audiences at the Met, Covent Garden and La Scala with her mastery of the classical opera repertoire. But now the Canadian-born performer returns to her ethnic roots in a program featuring a fascinating sample of Armenian music through the centuries. Joined by acclaimed chamber ensemble Camerata Pacifica and pianist Serouj Kradjian, the concert promises to be an exciting journey of musical exploration and discoveries, featuring folk songs, troubadour songs, chamber music and 20th composition — all hailing from Armenia. Since winning first prize at the 2000 Operalia International Opera Competition founded by Plácido Domingo, Bayrakdarian has been prized by opera lovers as one of the world’s leading sopranos.
