Stars of stage and screen Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay drop by the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica for a double feature of two of their most acclaimed films, Billy Liar and The Night Porter. The two veteran actors will be discussing their storied careers as well as their first collaboration, the new film 45 Years, which nabbed both of them Silver Bear awards at the Berlin International Film Festival. Director John Schlesinger launched Julie Christie’s career with Billy Liar (1963), starring Courtenay as a directionless young man who escapes from reality with his vivid daydreams. An unsettling cult classic, The Night Porter (1974) stars Rampling as a Holocaust survivor who stumbles on the ex-Nazi SS officer with whom she had a secret sadomasochistic relationship during the war. Dirk Bogarde co-stars.
