Become a citizen scientist and help monitor birds at Tommy Thompson Park. Your observations contribute to scientific data collections across North America.

Christmas Bird Count for Kids is a family-friendly birding event! Whether you’re new to birding or have been birding for several seasons, come join in the fun!

What to expect at Tommy Thompson Park:

We will begin indoors at 10 a.m., with an introduction to some of the local birds and a binocular lesson. Next, we head outside on a birding walk to look for and count the birds! After the walk, we finish back inside to record our sightings and wrap-up. We expect to finish around 12:30.

Interested in a longer birding excursion?

Bring a lunch and let’s enjoy a full day of birding! For our morning session we will monitor bird populations in the northern parts of Tommy Thompson Park. Stick around for the afternoon, and we’ll venture futher into the park to see which bird species are in the wetlands and embayments!
