Featuring Kurtiss Trowbridge who works at the Toronto Distress Centre. He provides counselling to the LGBTQ community and volunteers with the AIDS Committee of Toronto
Kurtiss has many years of experience working with individuals who are facing a multitude of issues, including depression and anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions and relationship challenges. He has worked closely with members of the LGBTQ community as well as those who are navigating the complexities of an HIV diagnosis. Through many years of working with agencies such as David Kelly Counseling Services providing counseling to the LGBTQ community, facilitating groups with AIDS Committee of Toronto, and managing volunteers at the downtown branch of the Toronto Distress centre he has come to recognize the role that discrimination may play in the lives of clients, as well as the various ways that discrimination shapes a person’s identity and may further complicate their struggles. Kurtis has recently started working towards opening a private practice and has started to expand the scope of his work to include working with couples as well as individuals.
