Enter Maya’s surreal world, where familiar forms and organic patterns come together as an exquisite cast of characters playing out viscerally charged scenes in an imagined realm of mystery and magic. The artist weaves familiar natural imagery – flora and fauna from the forest and sea – to create a spirited yet unsettling world of eerie calm and playful tension. As in a dream where only upon waking do certain details begin to appear out of place, the more you try to hold on to them the more they seem to slip away from your grasp. Within this world the vibrations of time and space are momentarily suspended, as though cosmic processes could unfold simultaneously, allowing us to perceive their infinite transformation as one still scene. Ripples of micro and macrocosmic events resound together as living echoes, traces of a boundless body of tension and release.
