TORONTO, Canada: Point of View Dance Project presents its buzzworthy production Wireless Connection, July 1st-10th at the Al Green Theatre as part of the Toronto Fringe Festival. The company’s unique fusion of jazz, modern and funk styles of dance caught the Toronto Dance Community’s attention back in 2014 when it first debuted at Dancemakers Studio Theatre.
The show’s soundtrack will have contemporary music lovers over the moon, not to mention the exhilarating lighting design by Simon Clemo. The choreographic dialogue of the show provides a commentary on the fast-paced and cut-throat nature of modern-day life, and shines a hypercritical light on technological obsession and consequent replacement of real human connection with that of online acceptance and perception.
“I truly believe we have created something fresh and exciting,” says company co-founder and co-artistic director Kylie Thompson, “the idea of contemporary fusion has been on the rise in the dance world, and I think we have managed to showcase our version of the style quite well in our new stage show.” Co-director and co-choreographer Amy Adams says “the dancers and their backgrounds are very diverse, and you’ll find flavours from a diverse spectrum ranging from breakdancing to jazz to classic modern lines in our choreography”. Fjord Review described the choreography as “vibrant and irrepressible – a must see!”
