Saturday August 27th is going to be one helluva night, as the Linsmore Tavern is so excited to welcome Strummerjam Toronto, all in support of The Joe Strummer Foundation! Strummerfest started in 2012 as a multi-venue music festival in Kitchener, remembering singer/songwriter, Joe Strummer 1952-2002 (of the Clash, Pogues, 101-ers, Mescaleros…), promoting the indie music scene, and supporting suicide-prevention charities. There have been numerous shows over the years in different cities, with many different bands! It's an absolute honour to have this event being taken place at the Linsmore Tavern to show appreciation of the music of the very influential Joe Strummer! The show on August 27th at the Linsmore Tavern is featuring some incredible musicians such as DJ Skip, Bad Raven Lucy, C.I.D and T.C Folkpunk, plus some really cool surprises!

Bad Raven Lucy, a group of 20-somethings – Ben, David, Ryan and Lucas – respectively, students in theatre, art, history and urban planning – will have their debut public performance at StrummerJam, offering a mix of covers and originals in the punk, folk and ska veins. Young energy, profound creativity, exciting talent; these guys have nowhere but onward and upward to go to.

C.I.D is a punk cover band led by 50-somethings – lead guitarist, Chailey, lead singer, Michael, and drummer, Steve – tho’ supported by the youthful energy of Keaghan (rhythm & drums) and Joey (bass) (who, with their friend, Aiden, also form the hardcore punk band, Noiz A Noiz). Not really newcomers, but having their Toronto debut, C.I.D. specializes in covers of classic punk/punk era favorites from The Clash, Sham 69, The Buzzcocks, Iggy Pop, 999, The Undertones, Teenage Head, Elvis Costello, The Stranglers and others.

Skip Viitala has spent more than 20 years committed to local music and community radio as a performer and radio show host (including Canada’s only all-ska show, Ska Party, on CIUT 89.5 FM). Relentlessly participating in bands playing everything from reggae to contemporary alt rock, Skip joins StrummerJam to spin tunes between before, after and between every set.

Tim Cameron changed his moniker to “T.C.” – a nickname he’d had since high school – to distinguish himself from all the other Tim Cameron’s out there making music. Adding “Folkpunk” to his name merely made sense, because that’s what he does. But it is really T.C.’s music that has distinguished him on four CD’s and in over a thousand concerts, including two performances at the Cavern Club for the 2010 International Pop Overthrow Festival.

This is going to be an awesome night of music with some incredible Indie Bands playing for their love of Joe Strummer! If you are a Joe Strummer fan, this is an absolute MUST-SEE show and you better believe that the atmosphere will be buzzing! This is also a fundraiser, which will go towards The Joe Strummer Foundation! Tickets will definitely sell-out, so get them now! Tickets are only $8 in advance, $10 at the door! You can buy your tickets at the bar or at www.linsmoretavern.com
