The 79-year old singer would now turn to professional singing with two live concerts in Chennai organized by the Gangubai Hangal Music & Performing Arts University.

The legendary actress would have made her singing debut in the beginning of December. But the flash floods in Chennai rained on her plans.

Says the actress, "I was in Mysore when the rains broke out in Chennai. I couldn't return for many days, and my singing debut was postponed. Now it's finally happening. Please wish me luck."

About embarking on a new vocation at her age the diva says, "It's never too late or too early to do what you wish to do in life. I've always followed my heart. I was an actress for 20 years. But when I gave up acting I never looked back, although there were many tempting offers. It was dancing that consumed my interest after acting and I devoted myself completely to it. And now I am taking to singing seriously. I hope I am successful."
