Last week, 16 000 contraband cigarettes were seized by members of the Tracadie-Sheila RCMP while executing two residential search warrants in the Tracadie-Sheila region.

Police executed a search warrant in the Petit-Tracadie area where 10 200 cigarettes were seized. They also executed a warrant in Tracadie-Sheila in a residence on Rue de l’Église, where they seized 5 800 illegal cigarettes.

A 68-year-old man from Petit-Tracadie and a 47-year-old man from Tracadie-Sheila were arrested and then released. They will appear in Tracadie-Sheila Provincial Court at a later date to face charges.

RCMP are continuing their investigation.
