Constantine Papaconstantinou arrested for robberies in Durham

One man was arrested after two separate robberies took place in Durham Region.

On Sunday, August 15, 2010 at about 9 p.m., officers attended a suspicious vehicle call in the area of Twyn Rivers Drive and Ashwood Gate in Pickering when an armed robbery at a nearby convenience store was reported. One suspect was arrested near the scene and officers seized an imitation handgun and merchandise taken from the convenience store. A second suspect got away and the suspicious vehicle seen in the area is believed to be the getaway car, operated by a third male.

Constantine PAPACONSTANTINOU, age 18, of Tideswell Blvd. in Toronto is charged with Robbery with Firearm; Disguise with Intent; Weapons Dangerous and Breach Recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.

Suspect #2 is described as a male, white, wearing a white T-shirt, about 5’10” tall, weighing 160 lbs with a slender build, wearing black jeans and black running shoes. He was also armed with a handgun.

Suspect #3 is described as a male, white, sitting in the driver’s seat of an older model, red Jetta. Anyone with new information is asked to call Det. Antaya of the Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5361. (10-168169)

In a separate and unrelated incident, a 32-year-old Oshawa man reported being beaten and having his laptop stolen at his residence in the Bruce Street/Drew Street area of Oshawa. He had received a phone call from a female acquaintance at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010 asking him to come outside. He went outside and discovered the female acquaintance was in the company of a male. She convinced the victim she had to go to the bathroom and once inside, the unknown male assaulted the victim while the female grabbed various items from the residence.

The investigation is ongoing. The male suspect is described as white, about 35 years old, clean shaven with short, dark hair, about 5’10” tall with a stocky build, wearing a striped shirt.
