Peter Mason King and Nora Ann Thomson charged with theft from Open House showings in Oshawa

An Oshawa couple is facing multiple charges after they allegedly stole jewelry, cash and other items while attending real estate open houses.

On Sunday September 19, 2010 Durham Regional Police arrested the couple who had been attending real estate open houses in Oakville. They were arrested without incident and returned to Durham Region.

During the month of September 2010, members of the DRPS Criminal Investigation Bureaus in Oshawa and Whitby, as well as other assisting units, began to investigate a rise in thefts while real estate agents were showing homes for sale in the Durham Region, primarily in Oshawa and Whitby.

While investigating the incidents, police located the two suspects who were followed into Oakville, Ontario. They were observed stealing property from the open house showings and also shoplifting from a store in Oakville.

Peter Mason KING, age 52, and Nora Ann THOMSON, age 51, both of Mary Street North in Oshawa, are charged with: Theft Under $5000 x9; Theft Over $5000 x3; Possession Over $5000; and Unlawfully in a Dwelling House x15. KING is also charged with Attempt Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation. Both accused were held for bail hearings.

Police have recovered a large quantity of jewellery, money and property totaling approximately $100,000 and are asking members of the public affected by these thefts to contact police and identify their property. Both Peter Mason KING and Nora Ann THOMSON are known to travel throughout southern Ontario and upper States.
