Three teenagers were sent to hospital — one to intensive care — after experimenting with a chemical compound purchased over the Internet.

On Saturday, November 27, 2010 just after 1 a.m., Officers were called to a residence in the Kingston Road West/Church Street North area of Ajax after a 17-year-old male had an adverse reaction to a drug.

EMS and local fire officials were already on scene working on the male, who had experienced seizures and was vomiting. Two other males in the basement of the residence were also under the influence of the drug, but to a lesser degree.

All three were taken to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering Hospital and the 17-year-old was admitted to the intensive care unit. The other two males, aged 18 and both from Ajax, had less sever symptoms and were monitored before being released.

One of the males had purchased a chemical compound with psychoactive effects over the Internet and the three had consumed the chemical at about 8:30 p.m. at the residence. The 17-year-old was on the way to recovery by the next day and is expected to survive.
