The divided Himalayan range of mountain between Pakistan and India often halts communication and affects infrastructure within the small communities because of avalanches and landsliding. The Himalayan mountain region which falls in the jurisdictions of Kashmir is claimed by India and Pakistan both. Therefore, both the countries have heavy army bases in order to claim their authority over the region.
