This Saturday morning, a suspected militant has been reportedly killed by the security forces in the Jannikhel area of Pakistan’s Bannu District. Another key militant is reported to have been arrested by the forces during their search operation in the area.

The security forces were reportedly attacked while they were conducting a search operation in the Frontier Region in Jannikhel. The security personnel subsequently responded to the assault with retaliatory firing. After the exchange of fires from both sides, the sources said that one militant was killed in the gun battle that took place whereas another was arrested. The militant who was arrested was identified as Waliullah whereas the militant who was killed in the encounter was identified as Matiullah.

The arrested suspect was wanted by the law enforcement agencies in various cases of terrorism. The search operation was started in the area after the remote-controlled blast which took place near the vehicle of the deputy subehdar of Khasadar forces on Railway Road in Bannu last Thursday. The incident had led to the death of four innocent civilians. Bannu is located 150 kilometers southwest of Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and is the principal city of the Bannu District.
