At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Indo-Canada Chamber held on June 29, 2010, Vinay Nagpal was nominated the new President of Chamber for a two-year term.
 
Vinay Nagpal is the 24th President of the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, one of the oldest bilateral organizations established in 1977 and with a coast-to-coast presence.
 
“I feel honoured to lead such a venerated organization,” Vinay said after his nomination, adding, “My focus will be to build upon the foundations of growth the previous boards have given to the Chamber.”
 
“The ICCC will continue to play a pivotal role in developing Canada-India bilateral ties,” the new President of the Chamber emphasized, and added, “We will work hard to achieve the $15 billion per annum bilateral trade target that the Prime Ministers of both the countries have set.”
 
The ICCC will be the nodal agency for the mini Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (Mini PBD) scheduled to be held in Toronto in 2011 to coincide with the Festival of India in Canada and the IIFA awards in Toronto. “We aim to involve other bilateral organizations and work with the Indian High Commission in Ottawa and the Consulate General in Toronto to make the Mini PBD a success,” Vinay observed.
 
Vinay is a Senior Development Manager at the IBM Software Laboratory Canada. He has held a number of leadership positions, and most recently was the President of the IBM South Asian Diversity Group. Vinay graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a BSc and MSc in Computer Science. He is an avid sportsman, and has founded two fund raising teams for a variety of charities.
 
Most notably, Vinay has cycled from Toronto to St. John’s NF for Cancer Research.
 
At the AGM, the following members were elected as directors of the Chamber:
 
Ø       Harjit Kalsi, Chief Financial Officer of Skylink Group of Companies
Ø       Jim Sahdra, Corporate/commercial and securities lawyer
Ø       Kundan Joshi, Founder and Managing Director of Joshi Inc. & Virtuoso Designs
Ø       Satish Thakkar, President of Excelsior Financial Group
