Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles, CA)
Don’t let the name fool you: Minimalism has inspired contemporary composers in a big way — and the results are hugely entertaining. Discover more during Gordon, Riley & Adams, one of the centerpiece concerts of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s adventurous Minimalist Jukebox festival. Renegade organist Cameron Carpenter (a man so extravagantly gifted he can play Bach with his feet) takes the lead in performing a brand new concerto by Terry Riley, one of the fathers of minimalism. Then there’s Michael Gordon’s love-obsessed Sunshine of Your Love (based on the Cream song) and John Adams conducting his own symphony-in-all-but-name, Naive and Sentimental Music. World premieres, major works and unparalleled virtuosity will all come pouring out of this Minimalist Jukebox event at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
