Jim Carrey did an amazing job of channeling one of our favorite comics, Andy Kaufman, in the biopic Man in the Moon back in 1999. We still have a soft spot for Andy, who graduated from Saturday Night Live to the hit series Taxi and became a genuine celebrity. He died of lung cancer in 1984. We took him out to a Chinese restaurant for lunch once and he was always in character – when he took off his jacket he was wearing shirt cuffs with cufflinks – only the cuffs – with a short sleeve t -shirt. Jim Carrey is currently promoting a documentary, “Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond” all about these two oddball comics. It includes original footage of Andy performing and Carrey onset while filming the movie, and has surprisingly good reviews…
