Two big movies opened the Toronto Film Festival – one starringRobert Downey Jr, and the other starring Al Pacino (seen on Downey’s shirt.) Barry Levinson directed “The Humbling” starring Al as an egotistical theater actor on the skids who awkwardly falls for a friend’s daughter played by Greta Gerwig. The audience found it hilarious. Downey’s movie is called “The Judge” and he’s finally got a real acting role – he plays a lawyer who goes back to Indiana to defend his father, a respectable judge, on a murder charge. Nice to see (above) he hasn’t lost his sense of humor.
